KNEES - We have all heard the terms, inclination and angulation. Inclination is the amount of lean one takes into the start of a turn versus angulation which is the angles the body must take to control that inclination so that proper balance can be maintained over the skis. This is primarily achieved with the knees. As the the turn or arc progresses from the inclination phase, the knees should drive fore/aft over the toes, as well as laterally towards the top of the inside or uphill boot cuff, enabling the upper body to angulate in perfect harmony with the skis. The steeper the inclination the more forward the knees need to be with a fine judgment and precision with the knees laterally to control balance through the turn or arc.
