December Ski Tip

“Centering”

A space within that is always calm and at peace. Being centered means being calm amidst every day busyness and chaos. Not allowing your inner light to be dimmed by stress, negative thoughts, and emotions. When one is centered it is a state of clarity, focus, peace, and balance. The exact opposite is achieved when not centered; unfocused, stressed, unclear, and out of balance. When one is properly centered, it is the most powerful state mentally and physically one can achieve.

Breathing Awareness - The single most important exercise in life, without it, you die. Do you make little short breaths or hold your breath while skiing? Do your breathing patterns change with the terrain? Focus on slow deep breaths, filling your stomach rather than your lungs. Breathing through the stomach will achieve your “power center”. Breathing through the lungs will point the focus to your shoulders and neck, away from your power source and optimal balance point.
